Electric Gates for the East Midlands (01773) 512003
The most common cause of gates sticking open is an obstruction to the infrared safety beams that shine across the gateway. Typically there are two pairs of safety beams, one just beyond the gates when they are closed and one just beyond the end of the gate when it is opened.
Each safety beam box is one of a pair, a transmitter and a receiver on opposite sides of the road.
First check that there is nothing blocking the line of site between the pair of beams such as long grass.
Check that there is no mud or dirt on the front face of each beam box.
Wave your hand in front of both boxes in the pair. You should hear a clicking sound coming from one box in each pair when the beam is broken. If you do not hear a clicking sound then there is probably a problem with that pair of safety beams. If the weather is dry you can check that an insect has not got into the beam box and is obstructing the beam by turning the power off to the gates and removing the beams cover with a small cross head screwdriver (PZ0). Clean any debris from the inside of the beams box with a clean dry paint brush then replace the cover. When you have cleaned all four safety beams switch the power back on.
If none of the above resolves the problem then contact us to repair your gate automation.
